Retirement Annuity Trust Schemes (RATS)

A Retirement Annuity Trust Scheme is a self administered personal pension plan, often referred to as RATS. To be eligible you must be a resident in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and aged between 18 - 74.

RATS are understandably popular. Here are a few reasons why:

• Succession planning: No requirement to purchase a conventional annuity at retirement. The fund can provide income to your surviving spouse. Residual funds can be passed onto your children/beneficiaries.
• Investment: Wider investment choice than other pension arrangements.
• Loans: You can borrow 25% of the fund value.
